Sugar Chic Family Mini

This is yet another mini using my Sugar Chic Paper pad and misc things from my stash including some glittery thickers, a Maya Road Envelope and my lovely Art Anthology paints and some washi ;)!

I love this paperpad! I think maybe it's time I made some cards... AND I have some more papers from way back or at least a year or more... that are begging me to use them in a project! Hugs and inspiration to you all!

Lasercut Mini...

I adore wooden lasercut things. I have some wood veneer pieces in my embellishment stash (and I've been using them). But I kept seeing these awesome frames when I'd go to Michaels and kept thinking they'd be AWESOME as a mini... um them I saw a Heidi Swapp Video over at My Craft Channel and saw that I wasn't the only one who had that idea!

Here's my version:

Don't forget to let me know how you like it :)!

Sugar Chic overload!

I have been OBSESSED with Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic paper collection ever since it first came out. I bought and hoarded it and the No Limits Line (which I ALSO adore). I finally broke them out last year and used them in a mini book, kept every last little scrap for embellies and cardmaking and I've been throwing bits and pieces in projects ever since. Well, then Michaels decided to carry a paper pad of the Sugar Chic collection and I HAD to buy it. So I have been USING it!!! That makes me SO HAPPY! Here is a video I made of a mini I made using this paper pad, and WARNING!!! I have several more waiting to be shown to you ;)! (You might recognize that the gatefold here is similar to the one I made in Jen Starr's class)

Other than being obsessed with this paper pad, I am in LOVE... mad passionate love with my new Art Anthology paints! I have used all of their products, but the ones featured in this mini are the dimensional crystals. I could only add so much to my supply of paints at the time, and I WANTED to buy some colorations sprays (alas, none were available at the time), so I grabbed up the Java and Peony. I actually was off work Monday of this week and went to buy some colorations at Scrapbooks Plus, but forgot they were closed on Monday and Tuesday so I still don't have any of those marvelous sprays. OH WELL :).

Hope you enjoyed the pics, I LOVED working with these products and making this adorable mini! I can't wait to share with you the next photos I have of projects I have been making!

Hugs!

Peek at my projects!

So I want to show you a bit of what I made in class over the weekend. The star of this gate folding album is Paint and Spray from Art Anthology. If you haven't used these products, LOOK FOR THEM!

There are some large 6x8 spaces that we used Water color paper, various stencils/screens and Art Anthology Colorations (mists/sprays). I LOVE the colors of these mists, they layer so well! LOOK at how vibrant they are!

This is a gate fold section that you see in the middle of the book when it's opened. I am just amazed at the layering. (excuse my sloppy stenciling, I haven't really scraped anything through a stencil like that before that I can remember... I love them even if they aren't perfect). I believe I used the Sorbet paint to make those wings.

The dictionary pages you can peek at are sealed with Jen Starr designed Dimensional Crystals paints. They are a FANTASTIC and I love that they have glitter inside, you can see it sparkle a bit in the light.

Can't wait to hear what you think...

more to come...

Art Anthology is AMAZING!!!

I LOVED taking classes from Jen Starr! Please check her blog to see if she is coming to teach near you, OR find a way to bring her to you if you have to! She packs so many fun techniques into each class and really encourages you to P-L-A-Y. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to be in classes with some ladies who really seemed to have trouble in the beginning letting go and letting the color thing just HAPPEN and embrace what was happening on their project. She would step in when they were getting frustrated and discouraged and just explain to them how to modify and direct and to just let GO and develop their visions.

I have been a person who had trouble letting go, and it's amazing to see others go through it. I remember when things like that were hard, but for the life of me I can't remember WHY they were so hard. :)

I think my absolute favorite thing were the Art Anthology sprays. Don't get me wrong I loved ALL the products, those different kinds of paints go on like butta and the colors are AMAZING, not to mention that they are gel based so they serve as a sealant and adhesive as well. Photos of my projects are coming, but I wanted to get them to a more finished state before sharing them with you.

Things I liked best about the sprays, the color, the texture (they are so soft looking, um very vibrant but they look like they would be soft to touch), the way they blend and layer, and I LOVE that you are SUPPOSED TO shake them like a polaroid picture! For best results on wash and wear fabric, they reccommend you pretreat your fabric with Soda Ash. Ok, gotta order some canvas stuff to alter now! I'm so excited to play with some of these sprays soon! I purchased some of Jen's dimensional crystals to play with so my upcoming projects will look even more painterly than the stuff you've seen lately. Can't wait to get to playing!

Hugs!

Big Day Mini

Ok, so I finished that altered mini book I told you about a couple of posts ago. The point of this mini was to USE MY SCRAPS. I didn't cut into a whole sheet of paper that hadn't been cut before for any page of this project (except the one transparency that I'd been hoarding for several years). I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I really wanted to do it justice, but as I've been under the weather, you'll have to suffer through my froggy voice to see it (feel free to turn the volume down and just browse the pics).

Let me know what you think... I keep thinking it could have been fancier, but I wanted to just use up my stuff and keep the process simple especially since it is going to someone else.

Have a great day!

Hold the BUS!!!

Still trying to help my sinus virus whatever get cleared up, and so tired from working (that's not my excuse for Sunday, but that's for a future post ;)), that I haven't finished my little altered book. Sadly, I've barely touched it, and I want to make it all pretty. But I have to have energy and mojo which haven't been with me at the same time so....

What I HAVE gotten to do, is sign up for some classes that will be taught by Jen Starr! She is doing Three Classes at a LSS around here called Scrapbooks Plus. They are:

I love LOVE that the supplies to bring with you includes a palette knife (I think I actually have one somewhere)! I can't wait to participate and get my hands all messy with someone who is so influential she has her own lines of products!

Have you ever taken a class with Jen?

I know some friends who have and they say she's AWESOME! I missed out on getting to attend the classes she taught at my LSS in Memphis so I am simply overjoyed to be able to take so many here!
