You Don't Know Jack

I am convinced that I had a "celebrity siting" when I was in NYC December 2013. I snapped a covert pic of who I think is Sean Hayes (and yes he is breakfasting with a lady with red hair worn in a syle that seems to be very Debra Messing but no comment on that...
I posted this pic on Facebook in December and I had friends who said it wasn't him, but I wanted to leave him privacy and not interrupt his meal ( or spoil my own illusion ) so I just kept this pic on my phone and cherished the memory of my own celebrity siting. :)

The ruffle is by Glitz Design, the paper and border are from the Basic Grey Highline collection, those awesome blingy jewels are also Glitz and I have just hoarded and drooled over them long enough! That mist is by Maya Road. The gold diecuts are from Clique Kits, they are the diecuts from the May kit, Field Trip and they are cut from the Fancy Pants gold paper in Field Trip. LOVE that gold paper!!! My favortie Momento Tuxedo Black journalling pen decided to quit on me right after I started journalling on this layout. Oh well, I hope to replace it soon. In the meantime I'll just use whatever I can find around here that will work. The tiny word sticker is from Authentique, the letter stickers are from Echo Park and Basic Grey.

Noted Food Traditions

Since moving to the NOVA area, I have changed some traditions. One of my FAVORITE new things is going out to eat on New Year's Day. I actually did this my last year in Memphis and found it so much more fun than cooking myself. So I have a current favorite BBQ restaurant here and went this January 1st for the second year in a row. I had a couple of snapshots on my phone so I decided to document this new tradition. Formerly I would have cooked some sort of pork product to eat, I decided BBQ was easiest a few years ago, but I used to cook this frozen Corky's BBQ that I would buy in Memphis. I would also cook some sort of potato and some greens and blackeyed peas. I was the only one in the house who would eat the blackeyed peas and I don't know why I didn't think to just go out to eat years ago.

The ruffle is by Glitz Design and I've had it in my stash for a long time. There is one piece of black cardstock used as a layer and the rest of the papers and stickers come from the Basic Grey Highline collection. LOVE these papers.... the colors are AMAZING! The letter stickers are from Ellie's Studio and Jillibean Soup.

December Daily 2013

Finally got youtube to take my video! Here is a video walking through my FINISHED December Daily for 2013! I can't believe It's done... I was going to add more embellies, but I put down all my pics and journalling and was HAPPY... so I was finished.

I owe a special thank you to Heidi Swapp for her Heidi Holiday Photo Find because THAT is the reason I was trying to keep up with a photo a day in December in the first place. AND a special thanks to Scrapbook Circle for their AWESOME December kit!

Please add a link in the comments so I can see your finished DD as well!

Superstition

So I have been a busy little scrapper lately. This layout is a TWO PAGER :) and I am using a ton of hoarded stash here... there three different thickers and the last three full pages of my Amy Tan Sketchbook line. You can also see a heart cut out from a Cut and Paste 3x4 card and some tiny stickers from the Glitz Design Wild and Free Sticker sheet. Those letters are from Seven Gypsies and the slide frames are from the Basic Grey Capture line. The title I cut out with my Cameo in several sheets of black cardstock. I then layered those together and covered them in Crystal colored Stickles.

I am also working on different ways to take and edit my photos of my layouts as we've had a ton of cloudy crappy weather lately and I've been kind of unhappy with my photos. Any tips are appreciated. The second page I tried to echo the hand drawn looking border of the first. I LOVED that paper and have been way too intimidated by the frame on it to use it. OH and funny how inspiration happens, but since I made this page and was discussing it with a friend, I'm thinking of another page I want to do to go along with this. Have you dug into your stash lately? There is no project that's not good enough for your precious hoard... it's something I'm working through myself... I'd much rather flip through it in an album than in my storage containers :).

Hugs and happy scrapping!

Do You Realize?

I seriously love the Glitter Girl Video Series over at the TwoPeas youtube channel!
This week's episode #96, had a challenge that included using a sketch for a layout. I thought this sketch would be perfect for a layout about my going to see Flaming Lips this year with a friend of mine at the Merriweather Pavillion. All things I had never done before:
Gone to MD for a concert.
Gone to Merriweather Pavillion.
Seen the Flaming Lips live.

So much fun...

Here is the LO:

I combined Cut and Paste by Amy Tan with some Wild and Free by Glitz Design and Recorded by Allison Kreft, my fav new thing which is Glitter Tape by American Crafts and some REALLY OLD THICKERS that I am so excited to use. Some various sequins and Art Anthology Mists and boom, I'm done :). I did use a photo collage rather than two 4x6 photos as shown in the sketch and I did turn the sketch on it's side but I love all the movement and color, it really brings to mind everything that was happening on stage in the concert!

Thanks so much and I can't wait for you to see the projects I have in mind for this week.

Beautiful Living City

When I first started scrapbooking in 2008 I subbed to a kit club. It was called Bad Girls and it was completely AWESOME and inspiring. It really helped me learn to do whatever I want on a page or in a minibook because basically the designers there used anything they liked and found inspiring and the kits included found objects and antique ribbons, etc.... Fast forward through them shutting down and me moving and I finally decided I might like to try out another kit club. Mostly because sometimes you get things in kits you might not normally buy on their own and for the fab mix of products picked out for you to work together. Also sometimes I am crippled because I can't just buy every single thing I want right now! Um, and this helps :).
After googling kit clubs I found the October 2013 kit at Scrapbook Circle and signed up for a 2 month membership. My favortie thing right now is that I am CRUSHING this kit! I have made three layouts so far and have my fourth planned and I think after the fourth I will have just some bits and bobs to add to my stash, the papers in this kit were to die for. Here was my first and second... now for the third:

I used the sketch challenge from Scrapbook Circle for November for the creation of this LO. That rainbow paper from Glitz Design's Wild and free collection makes me so happy! There is journalling on the LO so don't think I skimped on you ;). I'm not sure I ever would have gotten any of those ADORABLE little Allison Kreft bags without getting them in the kit but I love how it looks peeking out from behind my freehand half circle. And I am loving those Canvas stickers from Pink Paislee.

What have you been making lately?

One Year Ago

(Post written 11/11/13)
I moved to Virginia from Memphis, TN one year ago today. That move was one of the most significant things I have ever done. I am a very happy person. To celebrate I spent my morning scrapping a couple of layouts. One I wanted to just do a lot of journalling about how I feel about the move. The photo in this layout is recent. Made when I went to see the Flaming Lips in concert in Maryland. There are some leaves that I cut freehand from scraps of Glitz Design papers and I did use one sheet of shiny silver Bazzil cardstock for a couple of them. I used papers from Wild and Free by Glitz Design, stickers from Cashmere Dame, Yours Truly and Wild and Free by Glitz Design. I also used a Paper Layer from the Yours Truly collection.
Here is a closeup of those feathers... I am SO PLEASED with the way they turned out! All of the paper (except the cardstock and paper layers) came out of the October 3013 kit over at Scrapbook Circle.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look!

Lawnscaping Challenge #69 ... #2

So I just had to make at least one more card for this week's Lawnscaping challenge! This week's challenge is about letting Sentiments Shine!

I pulled out a bunch of stamp sets: Sweet Christmas; Let it Snow and  Yeti, Set, Go. The background papers are Glitz Design from the Vintage Blue 6x6 pad and Yours Truly. Some American Crafts Glitter Tape and the bling was just left over from another project and was laying on my table... the yard was in packaging from an order I had placed with Lawn Fawn. The card base is just a plain kraft card base that I inked up with a calender type stamp from Glitz Designs Uncharted Waters Stamp set.

Here's the Card I created:

I accented with some burgandy stickles! LOVE glitter that doesn't rub off ;).

Have a great day!

Lawnscaping Challenge #69... #1

I am really inspired as of late and I'm wondering, is it the time of year... the colors of the fall and the changes in the leaves and sky are just awesome right now and I am just really really into getting scrappy right now. I am REALLY missing my scrappy friends from Memphis as a big group of them are getting scrappy in AK this weekend and I SO wish I could have joined them.

Anyway, I have my first entry into this challenge. I know I will have at least one more entry as I was inspired while making THIS card to make another one :).

My background paper is Glitz designs, from the vintage blue 6x6 pad and my navy blue paper is a scrap left over from the glitz yours truly collection. I LOVE that navy blue and I'm almost out :(.

The challenge this week is a SENTIMENT challenge. I used the Say Cheese; Yeti, Set, Go; Let it Snow; and Making Frosty friends for this card. Oh, and if you haven't tried Glitter Tape from American Crafts, you NEED to!!

Hugs and Kisses, You and Me, Always and Forever

This is what my table looked like at 8am Thursday morning :). I had pulled out supplies to make a minibook that I needed to have ready before I left for work.

I needed a gift for a non-scrapping friend so I dug through my bag of goodies from the yardsale I went to at Scrapbooks Plus. That bag is where I found the covers. They are Teresa Collins bracket shaped book covers and 4x6 photo sleeves by bind it all. I covered the outside of the covers in a sheet of 12x12 paper from Yours Truly, the inside of the covers are covered with some Glitz Paper Layers, then I used embossing powder to edge the book covers. I used Stickers and elements from the Yours Truly collection to lightly decorate the photo sleeves because the person I'm gifting the book to isn't a scrapbooker. I inserted papers from the Vintage Blue 6x6 paperpad into the photo sleeves. I LOVE how this book turned out... oh and to boot I decorated a recycled brown bag with a tag decorated with some leftover stickers and some lace from my stash. I was in a rush to work so my pic of the bag is terrible... but my book, I took the time to make a video so you could see it's cuteness :).

Here's the quick shot of the bag... too bad I had to go to work ;)

Thanks so much for looking and have a wonderful day!

I didn't know then (another page of "hard stuff")

I had some hard (and when I say hard I mean I had some emotional stuff that was trying to claw it's way out of my insides and I had to let it out so the words on the page may be hard to understand, unpleasant to read, etc...) stuff to scrap and I had been wanting some new papers and stuff to get my creative juices flowing. I found this kit club through google by just plugging in scrapbook kit clubs... it's Scrapbook Circle. The October Kit is called So Happy Together and it is just yummy! I was so excited to make something with this kit that I printed and scrapped a photo that I took in 2011 about a month before my late husband (God rest his soul) took his life. It's not as chunky and embellished as I normally do, but the soft color of the paper just lent itself to getting my emotional baggage out. It's weird. I can think and decide how I feel but unless I actually do something that counts as releasing (apparently that's actually scrapping or blogging in my therapy blog) it just sits and festers. I love that I got the emotions out. That I was able to release them. I do love that picture and I'm glad it now has a home in my scrapbook.
