Thanks using scraps and a sketch

This is the other card I had made prior to NSD for some festivities. I used scraps laying around my scraproom, some paint for the blue cardstock and some LOVELY cork pieces, tiny clothespin and ribbon from SpiegelMomScraps. Here was the sketch we were given at SpiegelMomScraps Facebook page. Don't forget, before you check out at SpiegelMomScraps, be sure and use coupon code Charity10 to save on your whole order!

And here is what I came up with. I LOVE this card! I hope the person I mailed it to smiles when she sees it! The doodling was done with a Sakura Souffle pen in yellow. I've been using all of my Sakura pens more on my cards and layouts since I started using them in my planner as well. I love those pens! I also broke out some thickers I hadn't used in a while. They are from one of the Dear Lizzy Collections, I just love that fat font!

Thanks to you for stopping by today. I posted a couple of haul videos last week that you might want to watch, my monthly Clique Kits haul as well as a haul from Paper Issues, and guess what, Paper Issues commented on the video with a coupon code for everyone!

Catching up 5-6

I am so sorry to everyone that I wasn't able to participate in the 2015 NSD events. I hadn't scheduled my post to go up for the blog hop, and I had to leave town because my father was very ill. He passed away on May1. I had several projects ready to share with you for the weekend and I'll be sharing those starting today.

This was my take on the sketch you can find at the SpiegelMomScraps facebook page, I really enjoyed using this sketch created by my fellow Sparkler Kat Benjamin. Jody, the owner of SpiegelMomScraps posted this layout on fb the other day for me, but I wanted to make sure you saw it! It's made with the Pinkfresh Studo's Up in the Clouds collection, I also doodled around the edges of the black cardstock with a Sakura Gel Pen and I wanted to make sure it showed up in the photo, that's why you see the floor as well. That vellum is from Webster's pages and the cork, washi and gold doilies are from SpiegelMomScraps. I AM LOVING the cork shapes, I have more projects coming up featuring them. Not sure how many of you might recognize them, but there are some Sassafras Lass stickers on this layout, I dug into my secret stash, I'm trying hard not to be a hoarder.

SMS supplies on this layout:
Gold Doily (I painted over it with pink chalk paint for the effect in the layout)
Cork Butterfly
Cork Heart
Cork Cloud
Washi Tape

What did you do for NSD? I hope you had a blast!

Birthday Cakes

Sunday was spent playing with my A Midsummer Night's Dream July Kit from Clique Kits. Last month I had determined that the best way to get through my kit was to go ahead and have some photos printed when my kit arrived, but I have been working in my snap album so much with the Summer School class that I never got around to that (this class ROCKS btw.) So I went to my album that is just old photos in divided page protectors and pulled out two different events to scrap. This was the second bunch, but I wanted to feature them first. Erica had shared this sketch from Life. Paper. Scrapbook. and I decided it would be a GREAT sketch to use with these photos.

I made these photos about 6 months after I started scrapbooking, but I had still not gotten to the point where I knew what photos I would want to scrap. I wish I had better photos of the cakes, or the cakes with both kids, but these work and I know what happened. I think they are good enough to use for my story and I slapped the journalling on in several places. I had volunteered to make cakes for their birthday party that year and they were to be a castle and Hello Kitty. I think they turned out fine, I'm not sure I could have done better, but the kids LOVED them! That was all that mattered. If you play along with the sketch, let me know, I think it's a fun one. I used mostly items from my July Clique Kit but added, gray cardstock and I cut those gold foil doilies out of a piece of gold paper from Fancy Pants Designs with my Silhouette. Those gold thickers are from Dear Lizzy and are the font Fox. The black date stickers are also from my stash and are by 7Gypsies.

Do You Realize?

I seriously love the Glitter Girl Video Series over at the TwoPeas youtube channel!
This week's episode #96, had a challenge that included using a sketch for a layout. I thought this sketch would be perfect for a layout about my going to see Flaming Lips this year with a friend of mine at the Merriweather Pavillion. All things I had never done before:
Gone to MD for a concert.
Gone to Merriweather Pavillion.
Seen the Flaming Lips live.

So much fun...

Here is the LO:

I combined Cut and Paste by Amy Tan with some Wild and Free by Glitz Design and Recorded by Allison Kreft, my fav new thing which is Glitter Tape by American Crafts and some REALLY OLD THICKERS that I am so excited to use. Some various sequins and Art Anthology Mists and boom, I'm done :). I did use a photo collage rather than two 4x6 photos as shown in the sketch and I did turn the sketch on it's side but I love all the movement and color, it really brings to mind everything that was happening on stage in the concert!

Thanks so much and I can't wait for you to see the projects I have in mind for this week.
