Create*Craft*Share Youtube Hop March 2015

Welcome to the Create*Craft* Share Youtube Hop Hosted by the awesome Madge Gillen!https://www.youtube.com/user/Scrappinmadge You should be arriving from Jennifer's stop and if you are just stopping by here today, BE SURE to hop along!

I am so excited to be a part of this youtube hop this month! I love making and watching craft videos, that's where I have learned so many techniques and how to use so many tools that just had me stumped! Our theme this month was to "alter something" and I've really been into altering books lately, I had this great kit that I won at a crop from C'est Magnifique Kits and awesome products from SpeigelMomScraps (use code Charity10 at SpeigelMOMScraps for a discount on your order). My favorite book to alter is those Reader's Digest condensed books you can find at most thrift stores, but really any book that is a size you think you will like works fine. I really love how this turned out and hope that if you try altering a book that you send me a link so I can check out your work too!

And here's a still shot of my altered book.

Here is the hop lineup for you... Please to enjoy!

Mini Book from my March 2015 Clique Kit J'Adore

When I first saw this kit, My brain screamed "MINI BOOK." So when it arrived I sat down with it and started cutting away at the papers to make them 4x6 sized.  I actually got them all cut down and kind of piled in the order I wanted, when I got inspired to start telling stories of my grandparents, so I put these papers aside and wrote down those stories, then I scrapped a layout. Then I found some coil so I  could bind my little book together and I decided I needed to pick out some 3x4 cards to mix into it before punching, then I used my Cinch to bind the book together. Then I picked out a little Iris container with some bits and pieces from other clique kits, and then one more of those and started looking for bits an pieces to use on the mini. Like that lightbulb paper clip, LOVE it and it went so well with these papers. I used some washi I got in other kits and a tag, even some acrylic words. I love how this turned out.

This little book was made especially for a goddaughter of mine. She will be moving pretty soon and I want her to be able to record memories and pics of her current friends. She is a very outgoing girl and I think she will enjoy her move, but I don't know... I never moved as a kid and as an adult my first couple of moves were really hard.

It got better, and my last move was the best yet.

The Small Things...March 2015 Clique Kits Pep Rally

Welcome to the March 2015 Pep Rally with Clique Kits and featuring the March Kit J'Adore.

This month's challenge:

Add a POP of Neon to your project! This month's kit is filled with beautiful pastels contrasted with black and white. It also mixes and matches BOLD patterns with soft watercolor brush strokes. In my opinion- trendy and genius of our spotlight designer Amanda Rose and the Clique Kits kit design team ! Now it's your turn to show us your interpretation of the challenge to add a pop of neon to a project!  Get inspired by this fun neon sign by Kate Spade, NY.

This past Friday the 13th marked 90 days of marriage for me! (and my DH) So we had some fun with "reviews" for one another, talked about lots of stuff and went out to dinner at the local Cheesecake Factory (I'd never eaten food that wasn't cheesecake there before.) I LOVED using this kit for this layout. (P.S. We both passed our reviews and will be staying married!)

This kit was full of so many lovely bits and papers, I used it to make two layouts about my grandparents here and here. I also made a minibook that I'll be sharing on Thursday this week. I started this layout by coloring the door cut from one of the papers with some neon colored pencils I picked up a while back at my local Paper Source, the nI cut out that neon pink heart from an acetate card in the kit and stapled it to one of the exclusive 3x4 cards. Then layered that over a fantastic black doily (BTW Clique ladies I'd LOVE to have more of these to play with.) I knew I wanted to use a piece of that yellow neon polka dot acetate and I had some other little paper scraps on my table so I started layering. I wanted that lovely wood veneer tag to be a part of my layout... I was kind of going for a grid style layout but it's not quite squared up... oh well I love it anyway. Then I had gotten the Bella Rouge add on paper pack (that's actually where the background paper came from) and I used some of those bits for layering as well. I took some of my favorite phrases off of the Cosmo Cricket and piled them on... LOVE THOSE! Then I added the strip that was at the bottom of the same 3x4 card that says The Small Things to the bottom of the door with my tiny attacher and added the heart lock and key that were listed as add ons and found applicable flair to add. Then I decided it was time to stop. No ink splatters this time, no edging of papers, just stop . I love how it turned out, picture, journalling and some pops of Neon. :)

Thinking of you

Here is a quick card I put together using one of those awesome Julie Nutting Doll Stamps from Prima and using up papers from a Card Kit I got last year from Simon Says Stamp. I haven't subscribed to their card kits, but I have gotten several of them in the past and I LOVE seeing the releases every month. I think I've finally used up all the paper that came from this kit. The shoes on the doll are just colored in with copic markers, not paper pieced. The stickers on the card came in the same kit, and This card goes with my... make more anytime cards thing I'm trying to do this year.

Be sure and stop back by tomorrow to see what I've come up with for the Clique Kits March Pep Rally! I can't wait to share with you!!!

Dig Daddy

This is actually the first layout I completed using the March Clique Kits J'adore kit! It's my Mother's Father and really I just sat down with the kit, and started cutting  up some of the papers to make the mini that I actually was inspired to make when I first saw the kit contents, and there was some watercolor paper laying out on the table and this story of my grandfather taking my cousin and I for ice cream (specifically chocolate dipped ice cream cones from the Dairy Queen) just came to mind, so I wrote it out, threw some gelato color on the page and texted my mom for a photo of my grandfather. I had some frames and these wood veneer people in an iris container leftover from previous Clique Kits (I throw my bits into a container together sometimes). Those stamped ice cream cones are from Lawn Fawn : Here's the Scoop They are stamped with Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment Ink ( I colored over the ice cream a bit with a brown marker trying to make the "dipped" part)
The cardstock was from my stash, but that background paper is my FAVORITE one from the kit, then I layered the add on papers from Bella Rouge under my photo. Those tones in the paper, I just love them for the  and those phrases from Cosmo Cricket, sigh... love those!

I'm noticing a trend for myself to just freehand cut my papers, I'm gonna see how this plays out, I'm just too impatient to pick things up off the trimmer to use it sometimes ;).

Moments

It's the weirdest thing how sometimes a kit just lets you know what you'll be scrapping with it. I knew as soon as I saw the J'adore kit that I wanted to make a mini book with it, and make a mini I have, I just haven't shared it yet. As I looked through the papers trying to decide what to use to make my mini, all of a sudden stories of my mother's parents kept coming to mind, I started writing them down and after ransacking all my old photos and not finding the photos I needed, I started texting to ask mom to PLEASE send me pics of her parents, she responded by texting some back and I was set... photos to go with my stories and precious memories logged!

The only items not from the March Kit are those diecut flowers and word and they are left over from my January Clique Kit. (The background cardstock is from my stash.) The Stamp is by Mama Elephant and I have to say it's in a set of stamps that can be used for ANYTHING! It's called Filigree.

This kit sold out at Clique Kits and let me tell you, that is FANTASTIC! They have so much support and lots of fun stuff is in the works! I can't wait for next month as they celebrate their first year! I've been a subscriber since the first kit and it just keeps getting better!

What happens when supplies are limited!

I was doing some petsitting recently and I had mostly brought supplies for scrapping, and some stamps and colored pencils that I wanted to play with. And I actually thought that I had brought some patterned papers for cardmaking and a paper trimmer but I didn't. So I got creative with what I had. I had brought my Iris storage full of goodies from SpiegelMomScraps and made this card and I LOVE how it turned out! I HATED that I didn't think to video this one, but really, the doily was misted with Heidi Swapp Gold Lame' and that black striped washi is just the thing for the background. I also used my prismacolor pencils to accent that Shimelle Laine wood veneer ticket. And of course I used some lovely Paper Smooches Stamps.

Change is Good

I had a couple of days off last week, and sort of half of this week too. I'm starting a job at a new clinic, one that is opening brand new and I think it's a really good decision, but change is scary, so I wanted to work out my feelings on paper, I loved the colors of this kit and was glad I brought it with me. I learned while in grief therapy that it really does help and is actually recommended by professionals to get your thoughts and feelings out onto paper, the diecuts and sequins, those are pure joy for me to add, even as in my mind these sequins kind of make me think of teardrops.

That's part of the beauty that this particular hobby can be whatever you make of it. All of these supplies came from the Punxsutawny kit from Clique Kits.

I got a new name!

I was digging all the hearts and lovely pink and navy combo and last week I got all the paperwork turned in so I now have a last name (you say Feit like "fight.") I love getting all my feelings out on paper, it's the best kind of therapy I know. I making pages like this that are just filled with my thoughts and feeling, they are so fun to look back at later and I just put them in my regular book with my pages full of pictures.

I used one of the glassine bags that some of the embellies came in with my kit to journal on. I also wanted to let you know that I will be doing a review of the pen I used to journal on the glassine, it's something I had bought for another purpose then realized it would write on slick surfaces. I did some stamping on this layout and used the Lovely Thoughts Stamp set by Paper Smooches. The papers and embellies are from my Clique Kit Punxsutawny for the rest of the layout!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Inspired by... Jen McGuire and Waffle Flower

So a while back I saw this video by Jennifer McGuire:

These cards reminded me that I have some border stamps I haven't utilized so I got busy and made this card:

I didn't have any silver paper, so I just embossed some of the stamping. I think I like the cards better with more color, but I had it in mind to try using shades of blue with silver. I'm not going to let thinking it could be done better stop me from sending it out, that little cup from Lawn Fawn Love you a Latte makes me smile. Those borders are from Paper Smooches Borderlicious. I will be trying out this technique again as I really do like it and think it can make great all occasion type cards.  In fact, just change the sentiment and it can be anything! Do you ever make cards inspired by ones you see online?
