At the Diner

Diners, love them or hate them... they are everywhere in this area. I really enjoy the fact that they have a variety of food, and that they all look so interesting. The closest diner to my current home is called the Jukebox and it has a bit of a nostalgic rock n roll 1950's-60's type of decor. I love it! I learned a trick with my coffee spoon over the weekend and decided to document a little about the diner.

I LOVED using the colors in Field Trip to document this diner, because I feel like that pink just fits right in with the photos. That is an ACTUAL slide used as an embellishment and I borrowed the cutest little heart punch from my friend and went to town on a scratch piece of paper from the kit to make those little tiny hearts I then stuck everywhere. Those eggs look yummy right now! They are piled on top of a pile of cooked veggies, broccoli, onions, squash, etc... oh and there is cheese. YUM! Along with paper and letter stickers and cut files cut from the gold paper in the kit, I added buttons from the matching button set by Fancy Pants (the As You Wish collection buttons, Flowers from Maya Road, a postage style coffee stamp and some steam stamps borrowed from a friend, stickers from the As You Wish collection pack and Thickers.

Brave New World

Woo HOO! How is everybody feeling today??? I'm all excited and have my pom poms in the air!!! I really love this month's kit Field Trip and LOVE all the colors and patterns! Honestly this is a collection that would normally just get hoarded in my stash and I'm so glad I have so much inspiration and encouragement to USE this stuff!! It's way too pretty to stay hoarded up! Our theme this month is "Be Brave" I didn't have very long to think about what subject matter I would choose for that, I simply chose my move from Memphis, TN to Annandale, VA all by myself. Well I had friends that helped me pack up and get here but I am now 6 hours from my nearest relative and for someone who grew up in the rural south, that is kind of a big deal!
In my new attempts not to hoarder, I'm trying to go ahead and use multiple die cuts and ephemera on a layout. I love when someone else does it, and when I hold back, I just keep things in my stash that don't get used as often as I like. I used several exclusive printables that came with the kit, the tiny anchors from map paper, That AWESOME washi tape and my die cuts, I layered the letter stickers over some paper from the kit to help them show up better on the stripy background paper. I fussy cut several flowers from the papers and layered them around, that gold file folder contains a ton of journalling and the little chipboard globe is by fancy pants as are the chipboard buttons scattered around although they didn't come with the kit. LOVE the accent of those Studio Calico stars! I did edge almost everything with Black soot distress ink to kind of define edges a bit better. Here are some detail shots:

Here is the lineup... be sure to stop by everyone's blog... I hear there is a fantastic giveaway! Thanks for stopping by here!

Craftastrophe

I love my Cameo! Let me state that and get it out of the way first. That being said, sometimes you need to do a practice cut. I find that when I'm working on a 3d object and it's going to take my whole special piece of paper that it works better if I cut one to practice with that it goes smoother and I don't mess up my "special" paper. The silhouette store has a 50% off sale right now so I'm using that to my advantage (um or I was buying up shapes I wanted until I had to go buy 4 new tires this week... sigh). Anyway I picked up a few CUTE purse shapes by Samantha Walker and went about trying to cut out my fav with some paper that I had been hoarding... making the special lovely hoarded paper turn in to...

So I pulled out a sheet of paper that I liked, but simply hadn't used yet as opposed to having hoarded it in my stash for a few years... took a deep breath and cleaned out my blade (sometimes that sucker holds on to a piece of paper and can't cut like you want it to... it's just maintenance, she was trying). Then I got to this lovely:

Simply ADORABLE! Now, what to do... ok so def when I make it again it will have the buckles either out of a metallic paper (I have some from Chickaniddy Crafts that would be perfect). And a few other accents like brads or something to make it even more lifelike. OMG it's so cute. And what to do with them, well Easter is coming and some birthdays are coming up. It is adorable and will sit on the palm of my hand. I shrunk the file just a tiny bit so that all of the pieces fit comfortably on a 12x22 sheet of paper, I wonder how big I can get it...This purse is about 5 inches long at the bottom and a bit over six inches tall at the top of the handles. This paper is by Fancy Pants. I hope you like, I've made some cards inspired by a recent Jennifer McGuire video that I'll be sharing next week and I'm off Sunday and Monday this coming week (because I work today) so hopefully I'll be inspired to make something wonderful to share with you. Hugs everyone and I hope you have a lovely day. What are you making this weekend?

Big Apple Red

I only have some scraps of paper left from my All is Bright December kit from Scrapbook Circle, so I pulled out some Basic Grey Paper left in my Home Sweet Home November Kit and threw together this layout of my painted nails in my all time fav shade of RED from O P I.

I used some thickers from my stash in the font lax, they were white, with glitter and I was missing e's and a's so I pieced together the letters I needed from what I had, then painted over them with gold stickles. I think they turned out ok, but I did position the red a bit wonky. I'm ok with that.

Here is a shot of my pieced letters.
And, the finished layout:

I think it looks great. Happy Scrapping, I'm off to DC to take some touristy photos today!

Thank you for being a friend...

Last month the Scrapbook Circle blog had a challenge for us to use song lyrics. I didn't enter that challenge because I couldn't think of anything to go with my photos... I could think of songs but not the "right" one. Well, I found one this month for a card... I do love the Golden Girls ;).

And with those lyrics, and some tiny bits and pieces from my All is Bright kit:

This was Amazing

I  scrapping along this year, I have completed another layout using my December kit from Scrapbook Circle and am excited to share it with you.
This is a phone photo of the 2013 Christmas Tree at 30 Rock in NYC. LPapers used are from Elle's Studio, Glitz and Webster's pages. There are two exclusive to Scrapbook circle cards on the page, stamps from Basic Grey and  chipboard and buttons from Fancy Pants. That cream colored metal tag with a tree on it has been in my stash for years and is by Making Memories.

Crafty Goals for 2014 on Paper!

WHEW! I made my first layout for 2014 and it turned out ok. I really like the products on this layout and most of them came from the main December Kit from Scrapbook Circle. I pulled out my favorite Thickers from this year as I had ALL of the numbers left on that sheet and those Gold Maggie Holmes Thickers worked so well on my NY layout! I enjoy using "holiday" products on projects that aren't for that "holiday. The 3x4 card is exclusive to Scrapbook Circle and I just loved that it said Happy in those lovely colors. A few Fancy Pants Chipboard Stars, some "stamps from Basic Grey a snip of AWESOME Starburst design paper from Webster's Pages and that lovely glittery twill. Accents from journalling cards by Webster's pages and a teeny tiny date sticker.
ooo, see that star stamp, it's also a scrapbook circle exclusive ;)

Here is a more detailed shot of my journalling with my craft goals listed.

Can't wait to go by and pick up my photos for my 2013 December Daily and get it all pretty and posted for you. Did you do a December Daily? Is it finished? Hugs everyone! What are your crafty goals for the new year?

Scrapbook Circle Challenge #65... My Life this Year

I started getting Scrapbook Circle Club kits last month, and I have to say I've been really creative since starting my subscription. I really like the mix they include and they have challenges up on their blog that I am LOVING. Their kits come with exclusive stamps every month, and this month the challenge was to use the "Thankful For" stamp that came in the kit. All the supplies on this layout except the sequins which were in my stash (*cough laying out on the table*cough) and I put together this layout.

I am SO HAPPY with how this turned out! and to think it all started with that little circular stamped image.

I know you've seen another layout recently with those Basic Grey Feathers, but to me, when something like that comes in a kit, a supply that I've already bought and used, that just means I'm getting the right kits for me :). I think you'll see them on another project or two, I have some left from the package that I bought, I put all the ones from the kit on this layout. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE that cloud paper... yumalicious!
Thanks for looking!
