More Thank You Notes

I forgot that I hadn't posted the rest of the thank you cards that I made for my surprise shower gifts, I've made quite a few cards this year! I just stamped some of my favorite images and played with different coloring and watercoloring techniques. I did some embossing. I broke out some precious papers that I have been hoarding since Chrismastime. I also broke out some dies and did some diecutting (I got some new Paper Smooches dies I just had to use! LOVE the pinked circles!!!)

Watercolored with Distress inks and the stamp set is Paper Smooches: Cosmos

Background is distress inked and then sprayed with some Perfect Pearls Mist in Perfect Pearl. I used the Paper Smooches Dies : Pinked Circles. Images on this card are from Lawn Fawn: Yeti Set Go, Here's the Scoop

The Papers on this card are from American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lucky Charms 6x6 paper pad, the folded "ribbon" is fabric tape from Maya Road. The twine was a piece of scrap twine just in my stash. The enamel shape is from the Amy Tangerine Stitched Collection, I also used the Paper Smooches Pinked Circle Dies and Lawn Fawn Yeti Set Go Stamp Set.

I'm sure you can tell that I just had a blast coloring the Yeti from Yeti Set Go. I love this little critter! I had also just gotten those Pinked Circle Dies and really love using them, they came on their own magnetic piece and I can't tell you how awesome that is! Great Job Paper Smooches!! The papers again are from the Dear Lizzy Lucky Charms paper pad and the glittery pieces are American Crafts Glitter Tape, that enamel dot is from Amy Tangerine Stitched Collection. Those butterflies are from a Martha Stewart Punch that was the best money I ever spent on a punch because I have used it so much!! The Thanks is from the Lawn Fawn Love you a Latte stamp set.

One last card, and I really really love this one (who am I kidding I love them all and had so much fun playing with these stamps and papers. Still papers from Lucky Charms, Glitter Tape from American Crafts, My fav punch from Martha Stewart and and enamel shape from Amy Tangerine (I really wasn't sure if I'd use these shapes and LOVE that I incorporated them into the cards. They came in a Clique Kit and this is why I love kits, they send me things to try I might not have picked on my own.) The Thanks is from Lawn Fawn and their Love you a Latte set.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, thanks to the snow I'm catching up on getting posts ready, this one I thought would be up last week. :)

Island Nightmare

Warning!!! This covers some hard to scrap subject matter, it may be upsetting.

I woke up from a nightmare this morning. It was awful. In my nightmare my late husband was alive, and telling me that he faked his suicide ... I have typed so much more several times but really I have a blog that's for my own therapy and really where the rest of that goes, but there is stuff in the journalling that talks about the dream so I wanted to put it in perspective for you.

This layout is made using an awesome Rebekah Meier Stencil put out by the Crafter's Workshop called Gothic Romance. I picked it up at my LSS Scrapbooks-Plus. I think I'm going to be using it more... I really like it! I used another Stencil on some book paper for the butterflies. That was the Specimens Stencil also by Rebekah Meier for Crafter's Workshop. I used the Classic Butterfly punch from Martha Stewart to punch out the butterfly shapes. The hearts were made by scraping some Graphite colored Ferro with a pallete Knife (a credit card works great also). The stained glass window I made with an old bottle of Glimmer Glam in Lady Bug. The title stickers came from The Recorded Set from Allison Kreft for Webster's Pages. That Stamp is from Tim Holtz and the Steampunk cling stamp set.

I dripped some Heidi Swapp Gold Lame' Colorshine Mist and some Studio Blue Art Anthology Mist over for some final touches.

The journalling is very VERY stream of conscious towards the end. In the beginning I was just rehashing the most upsetting things about my dream that wouldn't get out of my mind. Sometimes all you need to do is write it out. JUST so you know, I have seen a therapist in the past for all of this grief stuff and as my own continuing therapy, sometimes you just gotta get it out, in my case... on some paper. And I don't mind sharing. Maybe you need to get it out too. I could have done this on a smaller scale, but I like working 12x12. I could have written this down and painted over it, but that's not what I do. I may never look at this again, but it will have a home in my scrapbook. I've dated it like I do my other layouts. This is how I deal with some of the harder things in my life. It works for me. Thanks for looking. I hope it helps or inspires you as well.

I've taken a couple of Stencil and Stamping classes lately... Most notably the mixed media bootcamp at Scrapbooks Plus. BUT I've taken several classes from May Flaum and it's really inspired me to actually USE the stencils I have bought and then to STAMP on my layouts so I get more use from my stamps.

Happy Halloween part I of 2 ;)

So this Halloween I am living in the NOVA (northern Virginia)/ DC area and not in Memphis. The last several years Halloween has been the biggest holiday that was celebrated at my own personal house (well maybe not so much last year, but I did go out and do Halloweeny stuff). I've been missing my friends in the deep south and made up some goody bags for my godchildren. I meant to mail them earlier, but oh well, they should get them on Halloween and that's good ;).

Here are the bags (I only photoed the cute parts):

All of the supplies came from my overflowing Iris container of Halloween yumminess... I am trying to make more space in there because I'm trying not to add Halloween stuff anywhere else... I didn't buy anything new so far this year for the box because I could barely close it ;).  I love how the bags turned out. All of the alphas were different colors and I used paint and stickles to alter them to my liking. That giant white spider was just that, but I have a small stash of spider rings still in the stash to cut the bugs off of and use in projects. I do have a post with a video ready to go on Thursday so stay tuned! Hugs and I hope you enjoy some awesome Halloween/Fall festivities this week. We are having a pumpkin contest at work on Thursday and I'm still trying to decide what to carve into my pumpkin ;).

OOOOO Also I started Acupuncture this week for my horrible allergy and sinus issues.... it was weird but I'll save that for another post I just wanted to say I give it two thumbs up so far.

Until Thursday!

Puppy Card

So here's another card using mostly the October Afternoon Thrift Store line. The black is just Micheal's brand cardstock and the heart i from the DCWV Pet's Stack. This little puppy shadow is from Sweethearts. Those butterflies are from a Martha Stewart Punch. (and they are covered with Rock Candy Stickles) Nothing holds these little butterflies on better than mini glue dots. I roll them up and pop them under the mini ones and just stick them under the large one. (I heart GLUEDOTS)
I know I know, it needs...SOMESTHING. If you know what that is  then please let me know :).  Maybe a sentiment...but right now this little card can be for whatever i need a card for. TFL!
